Mommy’s Pen is my place to write about the tension and beauty of balancing parenting and creative work. Cursing and potty humor abound.
I’m Sue Campbell: freelance writer, novelist, mother, wife, gardener, knitter, hand-spinner and chicken-keeper.
The day I came home from the hospital after having my first daughter, I knew I would write. Finally write.
I always wanted to be a writer, but excuses were easy to make. I’m too busy, I can’t think of anything interesting, I don’t know where to start.
Having a kid lit a fire under me like nothing else has. I am modeling an attitude I want for my daughters: living takes effort, put your effort into something you love.
My work has appeared in magazines such as Metro Parent, Stealing Time, Portland Woman and Backyard Poultry and at websites such as Scary Mommy, The Mid, Blogher, Tiny Buddha and Purpose Fairy.
